Breaking the Third Wall
Robert Beveridge
interest in beds has skyrocketed
though actual bed sales
remain stagnant. Who wrote this
market report, anyway?
We wonder if we can keep
our money under it,
or our monsters,
whether it looks more
like a racecar
or mosquito netting.
Acres of arable land
distilled into this beautiful model,
an exact replica of the stone
upon which Jesus was laid at Golgotha
but, of course, made of memory foam
to keep our spines in tip-top shape.
Robert Beveridge (he/him) makes noise (xterminal.bandcamp.com) and writes poetry on unceded Mingo land (Akron, OH). He published his first poem in a non-vanity/non-school publication in November 1988, and it's been all downhill since. Recent/upcoming appearances in The Bamboo Hut, Password, and The Stray Branch, among others.
